OSPF neighborship over DOCSIS network?

Hello,

I want to establish an OSPF relationship between CMTS and a Cisco router connected to it through modem.

I have full connectivity with bundle interface, but I can't hear OSPF Hellos. I supose this is due to ip secondary address. I can't move this address to primary role.

Another thing is, that I have tried to force NBMA mode on this interface to check if static neighbor definition will have any impact, for example to exclude any multicast filtering. But still nothing.

Besides, I read somewhere, that OSPF treats secondary ip addresses as a stub, and therefore they can't establish any neighborship, but I can't belive it. Stub are areas, not subnets, and neighborship in stub areas are also possible.

What are another possibilities or workarounds?

Thanks in advance

Wojtek

Hi,

OSPF adjacency will not form over a secondary address

Please see OSPF doc here
