ospf stub area redistribute static route

Hello,

I am redistributing static routes in ospf stub area by using redistribute static command, static routes does not show up under "sh ip route ospf", they show as static & not redistributed in ospf under "sh ip route" , what need to be added to redistribute static routes in ospf ?

Hello,

you cannot redistribute static routes into a stub area, as static routes are essentially external routes (type 7 LSA), and those are filtered by the stub area. Configure your OSPF area as a NSSA, this will allow redistribution of type 7 routes. The static routes will appear as N2 routes:

Thank you for the reply, stub area is already configured & seems a requirement by design when it was deployed, shouldn't I see these routes on receiving routers in OSPF even though they are not showing in stub area, what other options do I have ?
