Ping ARP MAC Address

Hello Guys,

Im currently encountering a dilemma here,

I have a L3 SwitchB, and when a hostA's MAC address is not present in the CAM table other HostB cannot Ping HostA

when I issue the Ping from the L3 SwitchB hostA reponds. then HostB can ping HostA already

Device Involve is Cat4506E

Logical topology is basically like this

HostA ---L3SwitchA---L3SwitchB--- HostB

Host A GW is on SwitchA, HostB GW is on SwitchB

Hi

As a quick fix you could probabaly set a static arp and static mac on each of the L3 switches to keep it in the cam and arp tables, just there locally connected host in each switch

example

arp 1.1.1.1 0001.0000.0002 arpa

mac address-table static 0001.0000.0002 vlan 1
