Ping to specific (access points Ip's) not working from different network

Hi

something strange i came acrossed.

we have two networks. 10.10.10.0/23(vlan 99) and 10.10.14.0/24(vlan 88) . L3 switch is doing intervlan routing for two subnets.

(10.10.14.0/24)L2switch1---------L3switch---------------L2switch2(10.10.10.0/23).

we have two finger scanning points at vlan 88 with IP's as 10.10.14.100 and 10.10.14.101

The Problem:

from vlan 99 i can ping to any host in vlan88 but not to two finger scanners machine of Ip's 10.10.14.100 and 10.10.14.101.

on sitting in vlan 88 when iam trying to ping 10.10.14.100 and 10.10.14.101 from any host of 10.10.14.0/24 it is successful. but not from other vlan99.

can you please suggest me where would be the problem

i was thinking as it is specific issue to finger access machines, the problem would with the access machines.

May be they are not designed to be able reachable from a different network. Also to check would be the default gateway configuration on those finger print scanning machines, check if the default gateway is properly defined. It should be associated to the SVI of VLAN88.

And ya, if you are curious about my post (i.e if a wrong default GW is configured, but still it pings from same VLAN) - It's because of Proxy ARP.

Hi vivek,

I saw the config. the default gateway is the SVI of VLAN88.

like: 10.10.14.100

SNM: 255.255.255.0

Gatway: 10.10.14.1

May be they are not designed to be able reachable from a different network.?

as the device can be reached from the same network of its config. why couldnt it reach from other network. whats the interlink ?

or the device should have specific hardware setup/ software that should support the different network reachability.

What is the OS on which fingerprint machine is running? If it's windows, try disabling the windows firewall service & give a try. They are sometimes to be a culprit.
