port down when i force duplex full

Hi experts;

I have connect two switches with cross-over cable .the two ports connected are 100Mb. but one of them is full duplext and other is half duplex and that

cause mismatche. when i reconfigure the half duplex port with auto it is go back to half duplex and when i force the port to full duplex it is go down . why this happend and what the sloution ?

What type of switch are you using?

What is the output of :

"sh interfaces fast x/xx capabil" from both switches?
