port not showing mac address

hey all,

i have a port that is up/up but when i do a show mac-address interface ( interface) it dosnt desplay the ports mac address.

any ideas?

Hi Scott,

On which platform are you trying this command..I can't see this command on 3750X...."sh int " can be used to see the mac address of the interface.

Hi Scott,

Please follow the process below.

1) ping

2) show ip arp <ip-address>

3) sh mac address-table address      or   sh sh mac-address-table address

Also please check and confirm if an SVI is created on the swithc for VLAN subnet under consideration.

Hi Ameya,

unfortantly i dont have the devices IP address ( not showing up in DHCP)

the vlan and svi are working fine.

cdp neighbors dosnt show up any info about the device.

This happens when your server is configured as NIC teaming.

Try to ping the broadcast IP address of your server's IP address subnet.

you can try traceroute using mac address. Give it a go otherwise agree with Leolaohoo.
