Port Security for an unmanaged switch

Hi All,

Is there anyway so that i can get port security for an unmanaged switch. I had a task in my company to block MAC Address to particular port for which that MAC address can be worked from that port only. It is an unmanaged switch.

Hello Naveen4b3,

if with unmanaged switch you mean a switch that cannot be configured, or that is not under your control, the answer is negative you cannot change the config of a fixed configuration device in first case, you cannot change the configuration of a device that is not under your administrative control.

All you can do is to configure port security on the port of the switch under your control that directly connects to the unmanaged switch.

You can block a MAC address at that point on the uplink of the unmanaged switch.
