Portchannel question

I have two swithes with me sw1 and sw2 and i would like to configure portchannel on these to swithces for trunk connectivity.

SW1(1/48)po1<--------------->po2(1/48)SW2

SW(12/48)po1<--------------->po2(2/48)SW2

My question is that,If i configure SW1 to portchannel 1 and SW2 to port channel 2,will this work properly or i have to configure the same port channel number on both the switches.Please advice.

You can use a different portchannel number on each switch.  I like to keep them the same when possible simply for administrative (troubleshooting) purposes, but there is no problem with having them set as different numbers.
