Hi,

Private vlans are unsupported on 3550 platform. This is documented at the following link:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_tech_note09186a0080094830.shtml

The options available under vlan are for defining private vlan association/type and make sense only if a port can be configured in a private vlan, and as evident, the ports cannot be configured under pvlan on this platform.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Private vlan is not supported on 3550.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3550/software/release/12.1_9_ea1/conf
iguration/guide/3550scg.html

In the Index, we can see that private VLANs are not shown here and the
alternative option is to use protected ports. The link to that is shown
below as well:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3550/software/release/12.1_9_ea1/conf
iguration/guide/swintro.html#wpmkr1043109

note- protected ports are not a complete alternative to pvlan.

Even though the command is present under the vlan it is just sitting there and doing nothing.

have nice year ahead.

Souvik
