We've had a couple switches lying around, and now we need the additonal switch ports. However, we're having problem adding them to the swtich stack, and I've included the information. Switch 7 has the same feature set, but a newer version of firmware. The older versions are deferred. I thought about tftping the firmware from the existing stack to our server, and then placing this on the other switches, but maybe there is a better way. I'd appreciate some input on this. Thanks

Hello baskervi,
You are right to want to boot the other switches with the same image (makes management so much easier for a stack) but there is an easier way to do this than using TFTP.
Since you already have the desired IOS in the flash memory of your master, you can use the "archive download-sw" command to push the image onto the desired switches.
Use your "?" to navigate through the command; you will first specify which switch's flash to access (flash1: flash2: flash3: ect...) followed by the .bin or .tar file. You can then specify the stack member to push the image to (flash6: and flash7: in your case).
Note that if you do not specify a destination flash, the file will be loaded on every stack member.
Best of luck to you,
- Jakob
