QoS [SMB Models, possibly Nexus] question

Hello

So I was curious about QoS functionality. I am only used to the standard Linksys,Netgear systems where it is pretty braindead to do, especially because I was assigning an Interface to have QoS over the rest of the network, but I am not really grasping how to do so on the SMB Switches as I look through the guides..A lot of it really seems for enterprise type scenarios VoIP,Voice, Video and so on.

Basically it seems when I am messing around on the internet, the TV/Game area gets high latency and buffer...Is QoS a way to eliminate that and I can assign consistent bandwidth to that segment of the network?

QoS is an interesting topic, QoS allows you threat traffic fairly and assign priorities depending on your needs.

Re:  Is QoS a way to eliminate (or mitigate)?  Possibly.

Re: Can (you) assign consistent bandwidth to that segment of the network?  Also possibly, depends much on your network device's QoS capabilities.

Unfortunately, when dealing with the Internet, it's "difficult" to do QoS for traffic from the Internet, as you don't control Internet network devices.  It's possible, with very specialized QoS devices, to do QoS upon traffic being received, but even the best such devices can be hit or miss in their effectiveness.

Yeah it seems to me Netgear and Linksys have mislabeled their "qos" with the 1-click option. Or maybe I simply wanted to see what I saw. Either way I will read up on it just for the knowledge-sake.
