I am new to PPPoE setup and i have a basic query from client point of view.
1. Do we get an IP address also for the PPPOE interface? if So , will it get dynamically from the server or is it statically.
2. When I looked at the RFC for pppoe (2516) none of the packets contained IP address and I believe it is a layer 2 protocol.
3. How did the client get the IP address or do we need to configure manually. Do you have a sample o/p of your PPPOE interface details similar to ifconfig eth0 ?
4. On a pppoe interface how are the IP packets forwarded? will there a routing entry for the pppoe interface?
