hi:
i have a question about vlan setting in a router.
the following commands creat a vlan in a router but i do not know how and when to use it?
Router#vlan database
% Warning: It is recommended to configure VLAN from config mode,
as VLAN database mode is being deprecated. Please consult user
documentation for configuring VTP/VLAN in config mode.
Router(vlan)#
Router(vlan)#vlan 30 name v30
once i have created vlan on a router i couldn't assign interface to that vlan like what we usually do on a switch. so what 's the purpose of router vlan?is there any simple experiment i can do ?
thanks in advance.

Hi,
this kind of setup is done when you have a switch module in your router.

Hi,
you could do what you do with a L2/L3 switch but with less advanced features available. You would have to look at the doc for the particular switch module/ router pair and IOS.
Regards.
