Question for SFP module for Catalyst 9300-48S

Hi, everyone

I purchased Catalyst 9300-48S. 100BaseFX and 1000BaseFX signals will be connected to it.

I would like to buy SFP modules. Which SFP module should I buy?

Should I just buy Cisco GLC-GE-DR-LX SFP module?

Is it possible that this module (GLC-GE-DR-LX) is compatible with 100BaseFX?

Best regards,

GLC-GE-100FX should work as long as the switch is running the correct minimum firmware.

I cannot make sense of what you saying. 100baseFX signal should be connected to the catalyst 9300-48S, and if I only buy 100BaseFX SFP (GLC-GE-DR-LX), is there no problem? I am worried that the Catalyst 9300-48S Datasheet says that only 1G SFP is supported. That's my question.

GLC-GE-DR-LX is not showing as a supported optic however GLC-GE-100FX is supported according to the matrix.

See link for all supported optics for the 9300-48S

You want to use 100BaseFX on a 9300-48S, right?

The Cisco part ID (aka SKU) for the closest optic module to support 100BaseFX is GLC-GE-100FX.  According to the matrix, the 9300-48S needs to run, at a minimum, 16.11.1 for the switch to "recognize" the optical module.

What you have not told us are the following:

  1. What is the DISTANCE of the fibre link?
  2. What wavelength are you planning to use?
  3. What speed is the downstream device?  Is it 100-, 1000- or 10 000 Mbps?
