Question on the command "mls qos srr-queue input" command that is not supported on 2960X switch

HI everyone,

Good morning. Hope you can help.

One of my 3560E old switch crashed and we got a 2960x as a replacement. I found out that the "mlsqos srr-queue in put" command in global config will not be taken by the new 2960X switch. The following is the settings from the 3560E switch.

I would like to ask

1.). what commands do I need to use to replace the following commands on the new switch? May you show me how to make the configuration which will be able to substitute the following old commands?

2.) What if I miss the commands? What the effect be if I do not put in the following commands? mls qos srr-queue out can still be taken.

I am not good at QoS...hope you can help. Thank you for your help in advance.

Hello,

Some commands can be diffrent from model to model.

check here, type of commands, how to configure qos on 2960x.

Dont forget mark as helpful and solved all post that help you.

Thanks in advance.

I think it is the default QoS setting on your 3560 switch.

Have your 3560 configured with "mls qos trust cos" or "mls qos trust dscp" on any interface? If no, the COS/DSCP value of every packet go into 3560 would be rewrote to 0. When all packets are treating as the same priority, the QoS become meaningless.

So, have a check on current 3560 setting first. If the above command is not found, I think you don't need to enable QoS on your new C2960X.

Hi ngkin2010

thank you for your response. I just checked my 3560E interface settings. It has the following commands:

mls qos trust device cisco-phone
mls qos trust cos

May I ask what I should do next?

Thank you

Your infrastructure contain VoIP, then you have to study the on current QoS marking and policing.

Why not just simply copy and paste? because the queuing model of C2960X and C3560 is different. For example C3560 have 2 ingress queue (with one of the priority queue), while C2960X have no ingress queue. So you cannot apply the same planning from C3560 to C2960X.

Yes, it's time consuming for study 3560's behavior and 2960X's behavior.

BTW, can you share us the information: show policy-map interface <interface configured with trust COS>
