Quick Inter-vlan Routing Design Question

Hi:

Before the advent of ISR routers, to perform inter-vlan routing, we used to use the so-called router-on-a-stick (ROS) config.

Is there a point in continuing to do so when you have a router, like a 7600, that allows SVIs to be configured and for inter-vlan routing to be performed that way?

To me, it seems silly to do an ROS on a 7600. What value is there in doing that? Looks clumsy.

Playing the devil's advocate, though, what is the value in using SVIs and not an ROS set up?

Yes, Im playing both sides....

Thanks

Victor

1-I have not used ROS in ages nor had the need to do so.

2-SVI makes traffic patterns more predictable.

3-ROS IMHO uses unecessary BW by traversing a trunk more than needed.

4-SVI are a more elegant solution :-)

All above points makes ROS absolete to me.
