"switchport trunk encap 802.1q" needed? or is default?

Hello.

Below config seems erroneous...

Nexus9300# sh run interface port-channel2
switchport mode trunk
switchport access vlan 3
switchport trunk allowed vlan 2,3,20,30,40
speed 10000
no lacp suspend-individual
vpc 2

---

QUESTIONS:

1. What is result of erroneous line  "switchport access vlan 3"?

2. Does this config need"switchport trunk encap 802.1q", or is this a default?

Thank you!

QUESTIONS:

1. What is result of erroneous line  "switchport access vlan 3"?  - this act as access port only belong to VLAN 3

2. Does this config need"switchport trunk encap 802.1q", or is this a default?  - This make port to act as Trunk with switch mode trunk and other config. - this required to become trunk its not default. (depends on the model of the switch - some are default layer 2, some are layer3 - in the nexus i remember its layer 2 default - you need to issue switchport command)

its all depends on how you configured globally :

To configure all Layer 2 switchports to be Layer 3 routed ports, use the system default switchport shutdown command. To reset to the default of all Layer 2 swithports, use the no form of this command.
