hello

I have a problem in a vlan. The clients (windows xp pc's) suffer random disconnections and the event viewer appears e1kexpress cable disconnection. Vlan has a size of 1024. Access switches are 4506 and are connected to the core via a 4Gb PortChannel. The core consists in two 6509 in VSS.

Is it possible to have a similar problem with the arp?

please, can you ever tried this?

Hi,

I am not sure I fully understood your problem description.

If you have users that are experiencing disconnects, here is the way we usually would troubleshoot it in TAC:

1) Identify a source/dest IP experiencing the problem

2) Draw out/understand the path of the packet from srcs to dst, using 'show ip route', show ip arp, show mac, and show cdp neighbor

3) Check each interface in the path for any drops or errors ('show int'). Check each device for high cpu with 'show proc cpu'

4) Check spanning-tree to make sure the topology is stable, and there isn't a possible loop. Use the following command to see if TCNs are being generated:

sh spanning-tree detail | i ieee|occur|from|is exec

5) If the above doesn't help, you might have to use sniffers to isolate where the packet loss or latency may be

Thanks,
David Kosich
