Doing a data center deployment with 6500s at the core, Nexus 5548s at the distribution layer. There's also going to be some Dell, HP, and F5 gear in the mix, so I'm committed to running MST as the primary spanning-tree flavor for the best compatibility.
I see that the Nexus 5548s will support both MST and Rapid-PVST. Can anyone offer experience on which to run in this type of setup? I've tried MST and right away am seeing problems; namely not seeing the Core as the root. When I switch to R-PVST, it works fine.
Also noticed they don't support VTPv3, which I think may be part of the issue.
