Redistribution into OSPF

Jeremy Guiles

Hello Everyone,

I have been experimenting with Multi-Area OSPF and Redistribution in preparation for the CCNP ROUTE test. Redistributing routes into OSPF seems to be easy enough but the external routes only show up in Area 0. Can anybody tell me what I am missing?

Thanks

Hi,

Can you paste the output of the below commands from Area 0 rotuer as other Area router too

#sh run | sec ospf

#sh ip ospf database

Thanks

Karuppu

Here are the outputs

Hi,

Based on the output , below is my understanding

1.Area 3 and area 34 are connected to Area 0

2.There is one more ABR which is connecting both Area 3 and Area 34

I am able to see all the routes which you were able to see on area 0 the same routes can able to see on area 34 as well.

Area 34 perspective, the external routes can be reachable via 7.7.7.7 with higer metric so that it is installed on the ospf database table.

Also , can you tell me which routes you were able to on area 0 but not in other areas ??

Thanks

Karuppu

I can see the type 5 lsa's for the external routes in Area 34. However, they do not show up in the routing table. If I reconfigure Area 34 as a Stub Area I have no issues which I'm assuming is due to the default route being used so that does not exactly solve the problem.
