As per Cisco 4 switches are recommended in stack , can somebody know the reason why four switches only recommended . this question was asked to me in interview and i didn't give convincing answer to interviewer so want to know now? I searched in google but did not find any answer can someone know let me know ASAP

I would never go over 6 switches personally due to memory as I have seen some nasty bugs take down stacks like memory leaks , never seen a doc where it specifically says 4 switches only , also I have been on lot of sites where they have had 8 and chosen to run the risk but never had an issue
maybe its because stack is limited to 4 switches in stack power feature

The maximum allowed switches interconnected in stack are 9, If it is recommended by Cisco so I dont think 4 should be the best option. But the Mark's point of view could be valid, usually there are 4, 5 or 6 switches connected in stack.
I have no had the need to connected more than 6.
