I have a pair of C9500 switches in a virtual stack. If i use the "switch #num renumber #num2" command to change a members ID, and have not yet rebooted, can i revert the renumber command? Or can i enter "switch #orignum renumber #orignum" to effectively revert the change?

Yes. Your changes won't take effect unless you restart the device.

This will change port numbering also when you change, so this should be done in the maintenance window by understanding well of side effects.

Hi BB. My main concern is whether "switch #orignum renumber #orignum" will undo any previous changes made to that switches member number when it comes time to restart

Personally we do most of the config on the intial planning stage, once gone to Live never had chance to change the switch number.
Technically if i understand correctly, this changes switch numbers so port number will change right ? that means whole config of your will be changed as per my understand.
Why you like to change the switch number what is the reason ?

I changed the switch number by mistake and i want to change it back so that it stays unchanged during the next restart

sure you can change back to orginal numbering and save the config, (i am not sure what will be side effect of this when youm reboot) make a note yourself (this change was done, take a backup config out of box to be safe) so you aware and be cautiousious when the switch reload accidentally.
Note : Never test configs on production system.
