Dear all,

I am getting the below warning message on my switch, I find that the secondary edge port

is not configured on any switch, In SW019 the interface G1/1 is configured as primary edge but the

output shows below as SEC. Is it becoz the secondary edge is not there ,the primary become SEC or any other reason? Please find the interface configuration all SWs in the REP segment.

SW019#sh rep to
REP Segment 1

Hello,

check if you are hitting the bug below:

REP Primary edge election fail because of random key
CSCsk68818
Description
Symptom:
REP convergence fails due to primary edge election failure

Conditions:
REP is configured on a segment with no manual primary election. Both edge ports are reported as secondary:
ds01.ptleorte#sh rep top seg 1
REP Segment 1
Warning: REP detects a segment failure, topology may be incomplete
BridgeName PortName Edge Role
---------------- ---------- ---- ----
router-a Gi1/1 Sec Open
switch-a Gi1/1 Open
switch-a G1/2 Open
switch-b Gi1/1 Open
switch-b G1/2 Open
router-a Gi1/2 Sec Open

Workaround:
Manually configure a primary edge port on an interface instead of leaving it to the election process.

(config)#int g1/1
(config-if)#rep seg 1 edge primary
