Replace faulty switch in the stack Cisco 9300 series

Hello Community!
We received the alert that the switch 1 in the stack had a "Removed" status.

Switch# Role Mac Address Priority Version State
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Member 0000.0000.0000 0 V02 Removed
2 Standby xxxxxxxxxx 1 V02 Ready
*3 Active xxxxxxxxxx 1 V02 Ready

We got the spare switch on the site and ready to replace the faulty switch now

I need to confirm the steps to replace faulty switch in the stack

There is the step:

  1. Power on spare (new) switch and change the next before it connected to the existing stack (console access):                          a. Change the switch number #switch <current-stack-number> renumber <new-stack-number>                                            b. Change the switch priority #switch <current-stack-number> priority <new-priority-number>

*The priority should be 15 as this will be a switch 1 in the stack                                                                                                            c. Upload a new IOS version via USB (USB 4Gb, FAT 32)
      * The IOS version 16.11.01 downloaded from Cisco website                                                                                                               d. Save the configuration                                                                                                                                                                    e. Power off the new switch

     2. Disconnect all cables from old switch (ethernet, fiber, power and stack cables) and connect it to the new switch

    3. The power cables must be connected last (after the stack cables)

    4. The running configuration will be copied to a new switch automatically from the stack 'Active' switch

Hi,

The steps look correct but remember if you give the new switch priority 15, it will not become the active switch unless you reboot the stack. It is probably easier if you give the new switch a lower number and make it a member switch, and keep switch 3 active just like it is now.

Hello Reza
Thank you for your answer!!
I have one more question regarding License level
We have next level in the stack right now:

Technology Package License Information:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Technology-package                                     Technology-package
Current                        Type                       Next reboot
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
network-advantage       Smart License                    network-advantage
dna-advantage           Subscription Smart License       dna-advantage
AIR License Level: AIR DNA Advantage

How to add the same License level on the new switch?

Hi,

Have a look at this document. Before you add the new switch to the stack, make sure it has the same exact license as the other switches in production.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst9300/software/release/16-6/configuration_guide/sys_mgmt/b_166_sys_mgmt_9300_cg/b_166_sys_mgmt_9300_cg_chapter_011.html#concept_esn_rtj_n1b

license right-to-use activate ???/
