What happens with vtp status if replacing a 3750 using smart install method. It is a standalone switch & config being
erased, it shows to be in vtp client state with blank domain name & revision no. 1.
The original switch(to be replaced) is running mst.
Will this cause issues during smart install. Essentially, any possible issues with this switch overwriting the vlan database
needs to be avoided.
Appreciate all help on this.

SmartInstall doesn't care what the VTP details are. SmartInstall pushes the configuration template down to the clients and won't care what the client boots up to.
If you want the clients to boot up to VTP Transparent then it's up to you. With ours, all our switches (including the Director) are configured as VTP Transparent.

For SmartInstall to work, the client switch must have no configurations. This means that if the configuration template does not contain any VTP details (VTP mode, VTP password and VTP domain) then the switch will operate in default.

Thanks.
we did a wr erase, removed stack configurations & vlan.dat.
Its configuration now shows vtp status as client with no domain name Should it be reconfigured as transparent for the smart install to work?
