Routing on a 4510

Hi all,

The core network is switched using a 4510R. I need to route to a new subnet (network extension) and I want to use the 4510r to do this instead of purchasing a new router. I've simulated the 'new' network using a 3560G in a lab environment and there were no problems but I'd like to know the effect of enabling routing on a live 4510.

Many thanks.

Mark

As long as there are no other routers referring to this device in their routing tables and/or the switch is not used as default gateway there will be no impact.

Just add "ip routing" to the config and setup your routing.

However, it is wise to prepare the config changes before you start implementing them.

Regards,

Leo
