Running STP different flavors on a network topology

Hi,

I'm planning to elect new root bridge for our network topology, currently their mode is PVST but they support RPVST except one switch (3500XL), can i configure them with RPVST while using PVST on this switch or this cannot be done ?

Hi,

Although not a best practice, you can mix different STP versions in a network. The RPVST switches will revert to PVST operation on individual ports that connect to PVST neighbors. The remaining ports will continue to run and use RPVST.
