RV042 - NAT Mapped server not accessing internet when mapped

I have an RV042 Router and did a one-to-one NAT mapping for my server using an additional external IP I received from byt ISP, pointing to machine 192.168.2.5. I am now successfully able to access the machine via the external IP without issue, however the server is no longer able to ping any external IPs? Removing the mapping restores internet access on the machine.

the machine has been assigned a static IP of 192.168.2.5 and static DNS servers.

What am I doing wrong?

-thanks!

Dear Marc,

You will get an idea about this problem if you enable logs abnd check the log file . Also connect a PC on ouside interface with any packe

  • Try enble logs on the RV082 and you will get an idea from log file
  • connect a PC (with packet sniffing software like ethereal )  on outside interface of this RV082 and try to ping this PC from the 192.168.2.5

From this logs you will get an idea about the issue.  Also try disabling firewall ,block anonymous WAN requests etc

Regards

Haris
