That is when you have too high of a signal on the transceiver. You can either get the proper transceiver or you can get an attenuator to add loss on the cable.

First, what transceivers are you using and what type of fiber is it? What is the distance?

I need your advice, I have several 2960 X Sws showing that I have a (%SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: RX)

I actually need to know what type of fiber such as single mode or multi mode, and what type of SFP such as SX, LX, etc.

Please date helpful posts.

Port      Name               Status       Vlan       Duplex  Speed Type
Gi1/0/52                        connected    trunk      a-full a-1000 1000BaseEX SFP

Full-duplex, 1000Mb/s, link type is auto, media type is 1000BaseEX SFP
input flow-control is off, output flow-control is unsupported

regarding the other info I do not have it for the now, and by the way several SW was shown today with the same issue

Are the switches close enough you could just use copper? The problem is that the signal is to strong. An attenuator should solve the problem.

It would be similar to this.

I would look to see what version of code you are running and make sure it is not related to a bug before making a purchase.

shut/no shut the port.

I tried to reset the interface (shutdown/ No shutdown) and the codes keep showing up through the show log

Did you get the issue resolved?

If the links are UP and functioning well, should not be matter to worry.

This looks like cosmetic bug if you are seeing this across multiple 2960`s? You can confirm with TAC or cisco bug search:)

How long is the distance between the links? If the connected device are short, suggest using appropriate transceivers.

If related ports are not used, just shut the ports.

If it was isolated, I would suggest replacing transceiver of connected device as Leo suggested.
