Safely clean out old files for a cisco 3850 switch stack flash.

I am working on a switch upgrade and I need to clean old files out of the flash for a switch stack with 2 members.  I already ran the "request platform software package clean switch all " but I still see old files in the flash.  Is there a way I can safely manually remove the files from the flash?  

If anyone here can assist with what CLI commands I need to use it would be great.

Different IOS-XE versions have different ways of storing files.  Cleaning them "manually" does not take away the gunk.  It does not scratch the surface. 

The most effective way is to perform a factory reset (command:  factory-reset all) and will completely wipe everything (including different flash partitions).  The switch will boot into ROMMON and the only way to put the firmware back in is to do an emergency-install (command:  emergency-install usbflash0:filename.bin).
