Same VLAN id used as data and voice

Hi Guys,

  I am required to set a switchport as it follows and I am not sure it will work.

    swi mode access

    swi acc vlan 10

    swi voice vlan 10

    spanning-tree portfast

Will the same VLAN ID work for voice and data ? I am having a Cisco Phone connected.

Hi,

It will work but not a recommended solution.  Usually you keep voice and data in separate vlans because you need to apply QOS to voice vlan and not the data vlan.

Hi,

if you have to use the same VLAN, I'd recommend

switchport voice vlan dot1p

at least.
