I encountered the problem that the link between Catalyst 6807 and C6800-IA switch was down and some of user ports on IA switch can't be used. After resetting the IA switch, everything become normal.
Can anyone know it is the problem on IA-switch side, Catalyst 6807, the fiber between them or the gbic issue? Thanks!
Below is the log message from Catalyst 6807

Hi
Is this dual homed , is it working on 1 side ?
Have you tried to change the gbic first then change the fibre if your still getting the alert ,
you can get an SDP alert from either issue faulty gbic or fibre
What does the interface output show on both sides any errors

Hi Mark,
6807 formed in VSS. 6800-IA SW had two uplinks , one uplink was connecting to 6807 VSS-1 and the other uplink was connecting to 6807 VSS-2. 6800-IA SW was formed in stack. We haven't replaced the GBIC or fiber. We did not found any input and output error on both side interface. Finally , we have rebooted the 2 x 6800-IA switch and the service resumed.
Thanks
Kidd

Is the log still appearing or was it a once off until reboot it may have just had a software issue and a reboot resolved it , if its continually there replace gbic and fibre that fixed it for us when we had and SDP timeout issue but we were continuously seeing the log messages

Hi Mark,
After reboot the 6800-IA SW , there is no SDP timeout message appear in my case. In your case , you have replaced the gbic and fibre , but still have SDP timeout message ? We would like to know more about SDP mechanism such as what is the default hello / timeout interval etc? Could you provide us more information ?
Thanks
Kidd

No we had the message continuously on customer site , replaced gbic it fixed the issue no more messages, from speaking with TAC that time the message comes from either sfp mis-match or faulty sfp or if that didn't work we were advised change the fibre , I dont have any specific documents on SDP how it works
