sent and received packet count is very high in LAN status

when i check local area connection status, it shows a packet count in millions. i tried disabling and enabling the lan connection. as so soon as i enable the the connection, packet count is rising to lacs. . i checked multiple pc's to verify the issue, most of the pc's are showing the same thing. my network runs on cisco devices mostly. . please help me regarding this issue

Well, I'm almost sure it have nothing to do with the particular technology (Cisco) you are using. Moreover, you mentioned no type of switches you are using, thus you may receive generic answers only.

At the first, the packet source needs to be identified. You have either wrong network topology (e.g. loop) or there's a source of packets here. Check network stats on (unknown type of) switches and/or use a packet analyzer (like WireShark or so) on stations.

Ask your LAN administrator for help. I'm sure he will be skilled enough to analyze it. It require no advanced skills.

Hi,

if you are seeing same behaviour on all host connected same switch, would recommend to run wireshark or scan the PC with antivirus .

The transaction in NIC is between PC and destination may external or internal, that you can sense by doing packet capture and checking that traffic is genuine or some real issue with switching loop.
