SFP cable between Router and Switch - switchport not working on Router

Hello,

I am connecting a C1111-8P Router to a C1000 Switch with a SFP double module but it is not working.

SFP is g0/0/0 on Routeur and g1/0/10 on Switch.

However it is not working because I can use switchport on g0/0/0 port.

Is there a way to get it working?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

That is probably because g0/0/0 is a routed port and g1/0/10 is a switch port.

You can make g1/0/10 a routed port by using the command "no switchport" and then give each port an IP address.

if you want to keep the switch as layer-2 and use vlans, you need to create a sub-interface on the router with the same vlan tag as the switch.

HTH
