Hello,

Last week an SFP GLC-SX-MM gave the following errors in the log:

Mar 3 11:34:59: %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 1, Nbr 10.14.254.254 on GigabitEthernet

1/1 from FULL to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Interface down or detached - ctw_check_err

or_bit - on!!!!!!

- ctw_check_error_bit - on!!!!!!

- ctw_check_error_bit - on!!!!!!

Mar 3 12:11:26: %PM_SCP-SP-3-TRANSCEIVER_BAD_EEPROM: Integrity check on transce

iver in LAN port 1/1 failed: bad key

Mar 3 12:21:09: %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 1, Nbr 10.14.254.254 on GigabitEthernet

1/1 from INIT to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Interface down or detached

The first is OSPF i would say. Who knows what the ctw_check_error error is this shows up about 200 times before the next message is the bad key message on the sfp.

I have replaced the SFP and the connection is now back up as a restart and reinsertion of the sfp module did not solve the issue.

I would say the SFP in question is defective, just wondering about the ctw_check_error because i cannot find any information about this.

THanks

Arp

You don't need to worry about it. "ctw_check_error" messages is caused by bad SFP.
