SFP+ ports can be used in Cisco 4500E switch when configure in redundant sup.

Hi,

When i configure my 4500 series switch with redundant supervisor engine SUP-8E (in case of 4507R+E & 4510R+E) then how many SFP+ ports i can used? can i use all 16 ports as 10GE SFP+ or 4 ports in supervisor-1 and 4 ports in supervisor-2?

Hi,

See table-2 in this link.

In dual sup mode, you can use 4x10 10Gig (SFP+) from each sup.  There is no restriction on the 7 slot chassis but on the 10 slot chassis, the last slot needs to be 47XX series line card if you are going to be using it.

BTW, Sup-8-E has been pretty solid sup so far.
