SFP Use

Hi,

Trying to use an SFP port on a 2960 for a LAN machine as they need a 1GB connection but it does not seem to be working.  The port has been configured for the vlan and is enabled but doesn't seem to like it.

Are you able to use these ports for clients and if so do they have to be of a certain vendor to negotiate speed?

Thanks

Sonny

Hard-code the speed and duplex. Negotiation has it's quirks.

Hi,

I have not used it for a client but you should consider 2 things:

- Modify the speed to 1000 under the port and Duplex Full

- Verify if the NIC of the computer supports 1000Mb or it is working at 100Mb.

Cable could be faulty.  Run a TDR test.
