Hi All,
IOS command - SHOW IP ROUTE, can show route table. Only most prefered routes from route table are copied into Forwarding table, Can you people please tell what command I can use to view forwarding table.

this command "show ip cache" is applicable only to routers whose Control plane and forwarding plane common?

Hello,
Not necessarily. I believe it is more significant in higher end routers.
Also, it is typically used with netflow. You can also use "show ip cef
detail" to find out the FIB entries.

Not sure i understand. If the route is in the routing table then it will be used for forward traffic. There are routes that are not installed in the routing table eg. routes in the EIGRP topology table that are not actually installed in the routing table, but all routes once they have been installed in the routing table are used for forwarding traffic.
Was there a specific example you were thinking of ?
