Hi all, what is the show controllers command generally used for? ie show controllers fast ethernet 0

I've used the show controllers on a serial link to confirm which side on the point-to-point link is the DCE side (the side which provides the clocking) and which is the DTE end.
Theres much more data too in those outputs which is a bit out of my league!

On a router, the sh controller command would also help identify the type of cable used to connect a serial interface e.g. V.35

It is used to display information about initialization block, transmit ring, receive ring, and errors for the Fast Ethernet controller chip.
The output from this command is generally useful for diagnostic tasks performed by technical support.
