Is there a way to shut down all the ports at once on a 6509E, 3560X, 3560G, 3750G and 4948E?
We are upgrading the IOS on redundant pair switches and would like to shut all the ports at once - reload the switch- verify the IOS upgrade - No Shut all port to get them back to normal! Thanks and appreciate your responses!

Use the "interface range" command. Something like:
interface range Gigabit1/1-48,Gigabit2/1-48,...
shutdown

Yes, you can try these commands:
Example:
interface range gigabitEthernet 1/0/1-48
This covers a whole 48 port blade or switch.
You can also use
interface range gigabitEthernet 1/0/1, te1/1/1, te1/1/2
this covers gi1/0/1 and te1/1/1 and 1/1/2

Not sure if there is a command to shut down ALL ports on a switch. There is an interface range command you can use but that does not shut down all the ports at the same time. If you are upgrading a switch, there is really no need to shut down all the ports. You may want to just shut down the uplink ports and the ports connecting to other core switches, upgrade the switch and then bring the uplink ports back online.

Thanks for your response Reza,
Yes, I just need to shutdown the uplinks before upgrading, can I shut all the up link interfaces at once is what I would like to know. Individually shutting the links will take lot of time
