Slow download speed on 1921 Router

dnsroot13

Level 1

Hello Guys

We are having issue after upgrading the ISP link from 40mbps to 100 mbps

checking on speed test website getting only 35 to 45 mbps max download speed however ISP confirmed form there side (testing directly from their link after router) that its 100 mbps on ADSL (dialer interface from FastEthernet0/1/0)

no change done on router & MTU and MSS are same as earlier.

any suggestion to check further .below is the config of the router .

1921 cannot do 100 Mbps (one-way traffic).  This model can support up to 90 Mbps one-way traffic or about 45 Mbps upload & download.

Thanks Leo

Can you please send me any document for the same so i can check further with our team .

I have checked one performance sheet but its doesn't helped me .

https://supportforums.cisco.com/sites/default/files/attachments/discussion/white_paper_c11_595485_17.pdf

I am getting right now 45 mbps download speed and upload is 27 mbps

At higher speeds, it is sometimes difficult to measure, due to latency and processing on nodes.  You may find that you could run 2 simultaneous streams at 45 Meg; but a single one still can't exceed that.

Yes but i would require some documents for the same if you can help me out

Cisco PDI is saying its  support 15mbps only!  .this calculation is for all the traffic ? as when do the speed test download its having 45 download and 27 upload

Cisco PDI report:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/routers/ps380/performance_2013.pdf
*Page 3

if you see below documents ,its give reports of mbps but with different (like with acl,qos etc) however i just need to know the total (w/wo) using those how much 1921 can handle the isp bandwidth for 100 mbps

Old forums thread

https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12010906/1921-only-15mbps-bandwidth

The Cisco data sheet says 15Mbps, although tests have shown this is low compared to what it is actually capable of.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/1900-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/data_sheet_c78-598389.html

There is no document which states it doesn't support 100Mbps, there is the data sheet which provides what Cisco tell you it supports. This states 15Mbps so there is your answer.

Solution - Upgrade to a Router which supports more throughput.

The document is helpful, it shows the 1921 was capable of 68Mbps when running QoS, NAT and ACLs.

Another piece you have in this puzzle is the firewall - do you know, based on the model, what limitations may be placed on it?

What does the router's CPU stats look like when you appear to max out download performance?
