Smart License Question for Adding New Switch to Stack

Hi Gurus,

            The current stack switch is using smart license with IOS 16.12.8. The model is WS-C3850-48P. If I add an additional to the stack, will the smart license automatically sync to the new member? Do I need to do anything in our smart license portal? Any possibility it will cause lic mismatch? Thank you.

yes that will sync with smart License portal - if you have enough licenses reserved or purchased.

For essential or base Licese is perpetual so even though its not smart Licensed the L2 switch stack  works as expected.
