Smartnet on Catalyst 2960 Series switches

Hi there

I have researching whether a smartnet contract is required to download IOS updates for Catlyst 2960 Series switches and there is mixed information out there. Can anyone please tell me if I do indeed need a smartnet contract in order to download IOS updates.

Hi,

You need a SmartNet contract because even if you are able to download it, Cisco will not support it unless you have a SmartNet contract.

I'm not worried about Cisco supporting it. I just need to know I won't be violating any licensing agreements by downloading it.
