Some Questions about Nexus Switch 5000/3000 Series

Hi Everybody

I have some questions about Nexus 5000 Series, Specially Nexus 5596UP and Nexus 56128P. They are as follow:

1- For Nexus 5596UP: Do the built-in ports support 1GE/10GE mode or they are just in 10GE mode?

2- Also in the same switch what is the mode on Expansion Slots? If I buy 16-Port module then will I have 1/10GE mode or Just 10GE?

3- For Nexus 56128P: Do the built-in ports support 1GE/10GE mode or they are just in 10GE mode?

4- There is an expansion module with P/N:  N56-M24UP2Q. What is the port mode in this module? are they in 1/10GE mode or Just 10GE mode?

5- Will have Wire speed over all ports in both model when they are fully equipped with expansion modules?

6- Is there anything like Fabric Switch/Local Switch concept of C6500 in these models or Nexus 3064?

Hi Alireza,

The answer to most of your questions can be found in the data sheet for each platform.  For example; a search for the 56128P platform data sheet will produce:

The Cisco Nexus 56128P Switch (Figure 5) is a 2RU switch that supports 2.56 Tbps of bandwidth across 48 fixed 1 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ ports and four 40-Gbps QSFP+ ports. The 48 ports on the base chassis support 10 Gigabit Ethernet and FCoE. The 4 QSFP ports support 40 Gigabit Ethernet and FCoE.

The data sheet will also talk about the expansion modules and the speed they support

I know that the fixed ports on the 5500 series also support 1/10. They 5500 comes with fiber or copper expansion modules and the UP version support FCOE as well.
