Spanning tree blocking port

Hello, I have a question regarding STP.

When I connect switch from port 1 to port 2 (see picture),

port 2 goes into bloking state and port 1 in forwarding. What I want to achieve is to make port 2 forwarding.

Normally I would use :

Sw(config)#int f0/1

Sw(config-if)#spanning-tree port-priority 144

but it does not work. Can you help me how ti make it work (1B = BLCK, 2 = FRWD)

Hello,

Your approach is correct. What kind of switch are you using? Hopefully, not Packet Tracer...

Best regards,
Peter

Thanks for the answer Peter,

well I was not trying it myself, on monday will have the oportunity to test it and will let you know (friend of mine was trying it).

Btw I dont think you can simulate such a connection from f0/1 - f0/2 in PT. Will update post on monday :)

Andre,

We would like to know what model of switch it is?

As you know if the Port-B is not taking into forwarding state could be that the port-priority is higher than the port-A.  So kindly configure it to be lower try lower and update us the result.

Configures the port priority for an interface.

For priority, the range is 0 to 240, in increments of 16; the default is 128. Valid values are 0, 16, 32, 48, 64, 80, 96, 112, 128, 144, 160, 176, 192, 208, 224, and 240. All other values are rejected. The lower the number, the higher the priority.
