Spanning tree blocks a port

Hi,

I  have a 2950 with one of my Pc is connected to its fa0/1 ethernet port.  The port fa 0/24 is connected to the 10.0.0.0/24 network with Dhcp  enabled. When I start to connect this network, getting an error as port  0/24 is blocked by spanning tree. If I enter to the port 0/24 and  disabling the spanning tree, getting the connectivity.

There is no any redundancy link between the switches.

So please let me know what may have the reasons.

Ranji..

Hi,

Spanning tree blocks a port if there were redundant paths.

If the interface fa 0/24 is a access port then you can configure as portfast.

If the link is a trunk link then we need to check the vlans allowed on the link. Could you please share the below requested outputs

Sh interface fa 0/24 switchport

sh interface fa 0/24 trunk

sh spanning-tree inter fa 0/24

I would suggest you to check if there are any redundant paths to the network,

Hope this helps.

Cheers
