Spanning Tree set-up (Existing infrastructure)

Dear community,

We are taking over the infrastructure off a client with an existing Cisco infrastructure.

1 Core Switch 3560

4 Access switches 2960

When i took a look at the config off all switches, i noticed that all switches (core and access) where having a priority off 4096

Do you think this has been done for a reason or is this just misconfigured?

Thanks in advance

Christophe

Depends they may have happened over time different people working on the network or maybe there not setting STP by value rather using something else like lowest mac but they probably just let STP do its thing rather than controlling it which isn't advised , the core should be 4096 and 2nd core say 8192 then all access 32678 , its a small network though 5 switches so they may not have been overly concerned about STP
