ssh issue

Hi 

If I am connected to LAN with IP address 10.x.x.x.x

and I have a switch configured with a management IP of 126.x.x.x.x ( different geo graphical location ) 

do I need to VPN in to LAN 126 .X.X.X.X in order to connect to switch via ssh ?

I'm not aware of your network topology, but basically the switch needs to be reachable from your computer on TCP port 22 (SSH) - simply put, if you can ping it and there's no firewall on the way that blocks port 22 (or your IP address, or the switch's IP address), then you shouldn't need VPN.
