I have  2 x 3650 swithes brand new. That i cant access the command line am told initially my colligue configured them and added them to the switch Fabric and he could not access them. He reloaded them and when they come on the "stack" light keeps coming on.

I want to reconfigure them what could have caused this? did they Join the stack as slaves? how is this model connected to the stack does it also use stackwise cables?

Hi

Which led is flashing? Are you talking about the stack led flashing? Are you in stack mode (button on the top left)?
When you say no prompt, are you connected in console? Can you reboot it and save all putty session output to a text file and attach it?
How many switches you have in stack?

Thanks
Francesco

1.  The switch does not finish the boot process when it turns on it goes straight to stack the stack light is blinking green the whole time.

2. I do not have access to the switch not even Romon mode. when its powered on i just get a gabbage character (one character) in my putty/securecrt nothing more. then the switch goes to stack.

I know how to access switches its nothing wrong with the machine/cable/putty i use the same equipment on a working router/switch i can log in.

The switch does not finish the boot process stack light comes on and i cant log in. But what colleague says is that when he unboxed them he was able to configure them after a reboot this is where we are.

I dont have stackwise cables the switches are stand alone.. I cant give you output as i cant log in. i used 2 laptops and 2 desktops with serial cable no luck.

what should i do?

Ok just to sum'up:

You don't have stack switches, you only have a standalone switch.

Are you sure your putty is configured correctly? I mean you should have access in console and see the boot process.

Have you tried, just for validation, connecting to a working device in console mode?

Is it a brand new switch? If so, maybe you have an hardware issue and call TAC.

I'm sorry but without a boot process, I won't be able to see where the switch is stuck and see if that something I can help you with.

Thanks
Francesco

Good day

I can connect with the same console cable to another switch that i have in the office, I can also connect to two more switches with the same console and putty. I have also tested using a PC to connect the working switch. The PC is working off the serial port to connect to this switch. This is a control switch that i brought to make sure my PC laptop and Console cables are working.

Secondly the switch does not finishing the boot process it boots and the stack light starts blinking it does not finish the boot process.

Lastly yes its a new switch..

In the default mode Stack LED will blink in green color only on the stack master
