Hi all,
We have a collection of 2960S and 2960X stacks. We would like to make an inventory of our devices and stack modules.
We have noticed it is impossible to obtain the serial number of the stack modules in the switches with a command on the switch (sh module, sh inventory).
The only way to obtain the serial number is checking it manually on the back of the stack module. In 1 model the serial number is taped on the back of the stack module, on the other model the serial number is on the inside of the stack module, and you should remove it from the switch.
Is this correct? Or am I missing a command to check the serial numbers.
Thanks,
Joris

Hi,
Does the 'show hardware' command help at all?

Hi James,
The sh hardware command does not exist on this model.
Reza,
I don't need the serial number of the switches, but the serial number of the stacking modules which you insert in the back of the switch to create the stack.

Hi,
Sorry about that. I should have red the post more carefully.
I am not sure if there is way to obtain that. Below is an output of "sh inventory raw" from a couple of 3650 switches stacked (2). Not sure if the 2960s have this command, but even this command does not show the serial number?
Try it anyway.

Hi ,
This should work on both 2960S and 2960X with version 15.2(2)E3, with the "show inventory" or "show inventory raw" command. Following is the output from my 2960S stack running 15.2(2)E3.

Hi,
If the switches are stacked, do a "sh ver" and you should be able to see the model and serial numbers for all stacked switches.

hi ,
already contacted TAC regarding this ,and there is no way to know the serial number of the stack modules except the way you mentioned before .
now I am not sure why you need to know the SN for stack modules but there is a FN regarding some of stack modules:

Hello Malshara,
I need the serial numbers to put them under contract together with the switch. When the stackmodule breaks down, I want to be able to request an RMA for this module.
